I recently posted a picture on Instagram that read, "Do What You Love." This picture got me thinking of where I've been and where I am now.
Rewind eight years ago when I went back to school to get my Master's Degree in Elementary education. Once I completed the program, I got a job in Bridgeport, CT as a kindergarten teacher. It was at that particular job that I learned so much about myself, and learned the true value of patience and dedication. I also learned to be a more nurturing and caring person. These are the traits that I will forever carry on.
Six year later, and after some major personal life changes, I was ready to move on and follow my passion for health. I will never forget my parents said, "Stephanie - you are such a great teacher! Are you sure you want to leave?" I assured them that I was positive and that I still will be teaching - just in a different way.
I then decided to "Do What You Love." I enrolled in The Institute for Integrative Nutrition and I was off! I learned about different dietary ideals as well as the importance of living a healthy and balanced lifestyle. I LOVED it and could not wait to work with clients to help better their lives.
Once I completed my certification program, I went full speed to start my own business. Again - I am not going to lie - it's hard work, it's very stressful, it's expensive. Also, working for myself I found that I was sending a lot of time with just myself. My whole life became a new routine. My old routine was waking up at 5am to be in my classroom by 6:30am. Now, I have a crazy schedule, meet new clients, and go to networking events all throughout the day. But hey, this is what I chose, and I am doing what I LOVE. I finally get to do what I enjoy, working with clients to teach and educate them on their health. No, this is not teaching a child how to read, but in my mind, body and soul, I believe this path I chose is just as important. YOUR health is your WEALTH! Your health is going to keep you on this wonderful earth to read with your own child, your health is your greatest gift you can give to yourself and others.
Change is hard. Change is the one thing we fear the most. Being comfortable and complacent makes life easy. I challenge you to challenge yourself. Make changes in your life. Follow your passion and your heart. Listen to your gut and put one foot in front of the other and GO for what you believe in. Do not give up! Along the way, you will get some curveballs and some strikes, but use it as fuel to your fire for your desire to live a great life. Remember - "Do What Your Love!"
