Deepak Chopra recently wrote a book called, The Path to Love. The books explains the emotional and spiritual journey one must take when discovering themselves and learning to self-love unconditionally. It takes practice and time, but developing the skills and mentality of inner peace with yourself, will help you find balance and happiness in your life. Have you started your journey yet?
One of the big ways to start self-love and self-care is to bond with yourself – get in touch with your emotions and learn how to take responsibility for your feelings. Learn about yourself. How you feel is your way of letting yourself know how in tune you are with yourself and feeling present. Learn to love yourself first, instead of loving the idea of other people loving you – Have you ever heard people say, “how can you love others if you don’t love yourself?” So true! Our greatest struggle as human beings are to be accepted and be loved. We need to stop worrying about ourselves and comparing to others – especially in what society thinks is “normal.” How can you love and care about yourself if you surround yourself with negative thoughts and emotions over not giving yourself enough credit or love? We certainly don’t want to fall down the path of becoming our own worst enemy.
Can you really be your own best friend? Yup. Try standing in front of the mirror (I know, lame), but hear me out. Look at yourself and pick out something that you really love about yourself. Got it? Love it, embrace it! You don’t have to look like everyone.
Make sure you distance yourself from negative people. They will only make you feel bad about yourself and make you more likely to judge yourself. You should be around people who accept you for you, motivate you and support you. Don’t hold on to negative feeling and emotions of the past. Leave those feeling exactly where they are. Start your day with motivation and positive vibes only!
Learn how to be humble and show gratitude for who you are and what you have. I always say how thankful I am that I have a pillow to sleep on and a roof over my head. Being thankful for just the little things, will make you feel happy and thankful. There are many people in the world who don’t have what you have – embrace these things.
Ever hear the saying, “do something every day what will make you happy.” Why not? If a venti double-mocha cappuccino skim with whip makes you happy, why not start your morning off with a little indulgence? Do something that you really care about and take care of yourself. Exercise and meditating, keeps you aware of your body from the outside in.
Share your self-love with other people – the positive vibes will rub off. You’ll feel better about yourself by helping a friend who is down and needs some support.
Learn how to laugh at yourself! Don’t take life too seriously. You have one amazing, wonderful life to live. Go out and explore it, learn, and be in-tune with yourself.
