When we start seeing “Back To School” campaigns, we know that soon the days of Pumpkin Spice and Sweaters are just around the corner. If you’ve had a Summer like we’ve had here in Connecticut, you’ll know that we’ve felt cheated with not enough sunshine and warmth. Here are some tricks to keep your good mood soaring right into the Holidays.
How many great memories have you had this summer? Well, show it! Put your favorite photos in a frame and display around your house. You can also use your family vacation photo as a screen saver or phone background. This will help make your transition a lot easier into the cooler months, but keeping those memories warm.
Have a Party!
Just because Summer is ending, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy all your summer favorites in the Fall! Throw a party with all your favorites – such as yummy sangria, hamburgers and hot dogs, and of course some summer décor. Plan an outdoor Fall party, complete with fire pit! Nothing says “Summer” than enjoying a good party with friends and family.
Get Some Sleep!
If you don’t get enough sleep, it can totally affect your mood. It’s important as the days get shorter, that you keep up with your 8-hours. You will feel refreshed and keep away any Summer blues. In order to keep your body in rhythm with the new darker days, try going to bed earlier and getting up a little earlier. This will help your routine get adjusted much more smoothly.
Clean Your Closet.
There’s nothing that will get you more excited than the new season approaching, than cleaning out your closet. Throw out the clothes that you haven’t worn in years, and feel much-lighter. Plus – you’ll have plenty of room for some new Fall and Winter clothes.
Time for a “Staycation”
How exciting is it to plan a getaway? Why not plan a mini-vaca in the colder months? You don’t have a go far, but just the sheer joy of planning a relaxing time will help beat any Seasonal blues. Go to your states website and check out some ideas for an amazing daytrip, or rent a room for the weekend with your loved ones. Take time to pamper yourself!
Don’t Miss Out on Fun!
Just because the kids are back to school, and now your schedule is full of basketball and ballet practice, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t schedule a little fun! Plan a fun night out each week – whether it’s a new restaurant, or movie night with some friends. Keeping yourself motivated will help keep a smile on your face that will still keep your sunshine beaming.
I can’t stress the most important part of kicking the Winter Blues, is to stay on a consistent routine with a healthy diet and exercise. This will keep your endorphins flowing in a much more positive way to keep you motivated all the way through.
